An angry personal response…

There were three Letters to the Editor published over three days in the Taranaki Daily News following the recent opinion piece by Rachel Stewart These letters were particularly personal in their outlook.

On 17 September Jim Tucker, TRC candidiate for New Plymouth wrote…

“Sarah has shown already she is inept when it comes to getting her message across; she was quite properly stopped from pontificating at a recent meeting because she just doesn’t understand the rules.

I’ve observed dissenters at work over many years of reporting local government and seen how the effective ones operate. Sarah Roberts would be about as effective as Sherril George is at the New Plymouth District Council. Not”.

On 18 September John Hughes, New Plymouth wrote…

“On reading Riding Shotgun, the fortnightly article by Rachel Stewart which appears in the Taranaki Daily News, I see she has her money on the election of Sarah Roberts, school teacher and anti-progress activist, to the Taranaki Regional Council.

I hope not as progress is slow enough as it is within the oil exploration industry without more obstacles put in the way.”

Finishing off on 19 September with Peter Horton TRC Councillor writing…

“And she used, or was allowed to use, her column inches to promote the cause of her chosen candidate, a person as equally removed from reality and equally incapable of interpreting and understanding the science that drives the work that TRC does.”
